The Why:
Hi, I’m Mrs. Chhabra. 🌿
As a Special Education teacher, I know that entering the school system and navigating Special Education for the first time can feel overwhelming. Between unfamiliar terminology, meetings, evaluations, and decisions, families are often expected to learn an entirely new world while advocating for the child they love most.
That is why I created SPED & Thrive.
My mission is to help bridge the gap between home and school by providing practical resources, evidence-based strategies, and compassionate support for families and educators. I believe that when families feel informed, empowered, and connected, children are better positioned to learn, grow, and thrive.
Here, you’ll find tools, insights, and encouragement designed to help you better understand your child’s unique strengths, navigate the educational journey with confidence, and build meaningful partnerships with the school team.
Whether you’re new to Special Education or looking for fresh ideas and support, I’m so glad you’re here. Welcome to a community built on understanding, advocacy, collaboration, and hope.
Experiences That Shaped My Why
For more than a decade, I have had the privilege of serving children with diverse learning needs as a Special Education teacher. Throughout my career, I have partnered with families navigating autism, ADHD, developmental delays, communication differences, behavioral challenges, and the special education process. Those experiences have taught me that every child is capable of growth, and every family deserves to feel informed, supported, and empowered.
As both an educator and advocate, I have seen firsthand the difference that strong family-school partnerships can make. When families are equipped with knowledge, encouragement, and practical tools, children are better able to reach their full potential.
My passion for serving children extends beyond the classroom. Through opportunities to work with children in orphanages in Africa and Mexico, I witnessed the universal need for connection, belonging, and opportunity. Those experiences reminded me that while every child’s story is different, every child deserves to be seen, valued, and given the chance to thrive.
These experiences continue to shape the heart behind SPED & Thrive—a place where families can find trusted resources, meaningful encouragement, and a community that believes in the potential of every child.
